Safety and Productivity for Bracalba
13.Jul.2007
Acumine collision avoidance and Fleet monitoring system will be installed in Bracalba Quarry. The system will be operating for a small fleet of haul truck, vehicles and other resources. A new personnel system will also be under trial in this site.

System Update in Alcoa

The Safety system installed in Alcoa Willowdale was updated with Mesh network capabilities. The mesh network upgrade enables the implementation of Fleet monitoring capabilities without requiring full mine coverage and add another level of integrity to the safety system. Basic FMS capabilities are already installed and are under evaluation by the mine site.

ACFR
Australian Centre For Field Robotics
The Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) is a Commonwealth Key Centre of Teaching and Research and is associated with the University of Sydney's School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering. As of 1st January 2003 ACFR also became part of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence in Autonomous Systems, resulting in $10 million funding over five years.
The ACFR has a strong research and development program in mining automation technology, both as part of CRCMining, and through direct government and industry funding. The ACFR has developed considerable expertise and intellectual property associated with the application of engineering and field robotics in the mining industry. The fundamental research outcomes of the Centre in the minining area is commercialsed through Acumine.
